How to find a Facebook Page ID (and tag any Page in your posts)

Tagging another business in a Facebook post — a partner, a venue, a hospital you're celebrating — turns its name into a link and notifies the Page. It's one of the simplest ways to get seen by the people behind it. But if you post from a scheduling tool instead of the Facebook app, there's a catch: you need that Page's Page ID, a long number like 20531316728.

Why a tool can't just look the Page up by name

Facebook doesn't let third-party apps search for Pages by name. That lookup is restricted to Meta's own apps, and it isn't something an app can apply for. Tagging itself is fully allowed — but only by ID. So the one step a tool can't do for you is find the number. The good news is that you only need to do it once per Page.

The method: Meta Ad Library

Meta's Ad Library is a free, public search tool for Facebook Pages. Despite the name, it lists Pages that have never run an ad, and it shows the correct Page ID right in your browser's address bar.

  1. Open facebook.com/ads/library.
  2. Under Search ads, choose your country, then set Ad category to All ads. The search box stays greyed out until you pick a category.
  3. In Search by keyword or advertiser, start typing the Page's name.
  4. A dropdown appears. Under Advertisers, click the Page you want. Check the @username and follower count beneath each name — there are often several Pages with similar names, and this is how you tell them apart.
  5. Look at the address bar. Find view_all_page_id= — the digits right after it are the Page ID.

For example, for Facebook's own official Page the address bar ends in &view_all_page_id=20531316728, so its Page ID is 20531316728. Copy just the digits.

It doesn't matter if the Page shows no ads. You only need the number in the address.

Watch out: most "find my Facebook ID" tricks give you the wrong number

If you search for this problem, you'll find two popular shortcuts — viewing the Page's source code, or pasting the Page's URL into a free "Facebook ID finder" website. Both usually return a different number, typically a 15-digit ID starting with 1000.

That number belongs to the Page's profile, not the Page ID Facebook uses for tags. We tested it: a post tagging it didn't turn the name into a link — Facebook removed the name from the post entirely, without any error. If a tag ever vanishes from a published post, a profile ID like this is the most likely cause. Use the Ad Library method above and you won't hit it.

Tagging the Page in OwlKonnect

  1. In the post composer, select a Facebook channel. (Page tags only work in Facebook posts.)
  2. Type @ where you want the tag, and type or paste the Page's name.
  3. If it isn't already listed, paste the Page ID into the Page ID box and click Tag it.

OwlKonnect remembers the Page under the name you searched for. Next time — for you and everyone on your team — just type @ and the first few letters, and it appears in the list. You'll only ever look up an ID once.

Facebook shows the Page's real name in the published post, whatever name you saved it under.

Other networks

  • Instagram — no ID needed. Type @username in your caption as normal; Instagram turns it into a link when the post goes live.
  • LinkedIn — you can tag company pages by pasting the company's LinkedIn page URL into the tag search. Personal profiles can't be tagged by third-party tools.

Quick troubleshooting

  • The tag published as plain text, or disappeared. Double-check you used the ID from the Ad Library, not one from a source-code trick or an ID-finder site.
  • Several Pages share the name. Match the @username in the Ad Library dropdown against the Page's web address on Facebook.
  • The search box is greyed out. Choose an Ad category first — All ads works.
